"Kohiki" cup /Ryutaro Yamada

A kohiki cup is a rustic Japanese yunomi characterized by an iron-rich clay body coated in white slip and finished with a translucent glaze, offering a warm, earthy aesthetic. These handcrafted cups often feature subtle grey or beige hues, black specks, and a soft matte or textured finish that develops a unique character over time.

Ryutaro Yamada | 山田隆太郎

Born in Saitama, Japan, 1984
Mr Yamada’s workshop is located in the mountains of Fujino,
Kanagawa Prefecture. He makes use of wood kiln ring, oil kiln
ring, and gas kiln ring to produce his pottery from raw clay
collected nearby. His pottery is full of roughness from raw clay
with balance in the harmony of wholeness; he continues to
create with a calm and generous passion.
